I finally did it! I completed the Bronze, Silver, and Gold Apocalypse challenge and reached Prestige 3 in a single run! But don’t let that fool you—I spent eight grueling hours before this just trying to make it work.
If you’re like me—someone who struggles to loop ghosts and generally gets scared way too easily—this guide is for you. Because let’s be real: sitting alone inside Sunny Meadows is NOT for the weak-hearted. 😨
The Apocalypse Challenge – What You Need to Do
To complete the challenge, you must:
✅ Complete all objectives
📸 Capture a photo of the ghost (1-star, 2-star, or 3-star—it doesn’t matter)
👻 Guess the ghost correctly
💀 Survive (good luck with that)
Oh, and of course, all of this has to be done in Sunny Meadows (NOT the restricted version) with a 15x difficulty multiplier. No pressure, right?
The Best Ghost for the Challenge: PRAY for a Deogen 🙏
If you’re moving at turtle speed, the Deogen is your best friend (or worst nightmare). This ghost is terrifying but also the easiest to loop, since it slows down when it gets close to you—giving you a fighting chance.
So, before you even start, hope and pray to the ghost-hunting gods for a Deogen spawn.
Best Objectives to Get (a.k.a. the Only Ones That Won’t Make You Cry)
If you want a winnable run, these objectives are your best bet:
✔ Escape the ghost during a hunt (you’ll be doing this anyway)
✔ Cleanse the area near the ghost (easy incense burn)
✔ Repel the ghost with incense while it’s chasing you (also easy with a Deogen)
✔ Capture a photo of the ghost (get your camera ready)
✔ Detect a paranormal sound with a Parabolic Microphone (great for locating the ghost OR determining its speed)
Doable, but Slightly More Annoying:
🔸 Find evidence with an EMF reader (if it’s a Deogen, just chuck it at the entrance—when it hunts, the EMF will go off)
🔸 Detect the ghost with a motion sensor (place it near the entrance, so the ghost triggers it while chasing you)
🔸 Get a ghost to blow out a firelight (use the chapel for this)
Instant Reset if You Get These Objectives:
🚫 Witness a ghost event (too random)
🚫 Prevent a hunt with a crucifix (not happening at 15x difficulty)
The Strategy: How to Survive This Nightmare
Before Entering the Building:
- Throw your gear through the door first.
- Start with: Photo camera, 2 incense sticks, a lighter, and any required objective items (EMF, Parabolic Mic, or Motion Sensor).
- Tier 3 Headcams are OP (if you don’t have “Eye Adaptation” enabled, this acts as night vision).
Step-by-Step Guide:
1️⃣ Use a timer! The hunt lasts 50-60 seconds, so track it using your phone or Steam’s built-in timer.
2️⃣ Hold an incense, lighter, camera, and Parabolic Mic. Stay near the entrance for the first hunt.
3️⃣ Listen for the ghost’s speed:
- If it rushes towards you and slows down—congrats, it’s a Deogen!
- Burn incense, run THROUGH it, then head left to the office or straight to the chapel to loop.
- Use the desk in the office to circle until the hunt ends (just don’t get stuck).
4️⃣ If it’s NOT a Deogen—RESET THE RUN.
This is BY FAR the easiest way to complete the challenge, especially if you’re easily scared (like me). No need to suffer longer than necessary in that cursed asylum.
Final Thoughts
This challenge was a rollercoaster of frustration, terror, and eventual victory. If you’re struggling with it, don’t give up! With the right objectives, a bit of luck, and a whole lot of incense, you can get through it.
